RM 9.5 Million For Azam Tani Project In Kelantan
The Central Government has allocated RM 9.5 million to implement the poverty eradication programme under the Azam Tani programme in Kelantan for 2013.
It will benefit 950 poor families and help to free them from poverty through implementation of agricultural, agro-based industries, tailoring and other projects that will help to increase their income.
The Azam Tani Project was created to generate and elevate the income of the poor by providing assistance such as machinery, equipment, workshops, raw materials as well as technical training and motivation to enable them to undertake projects in agriculture, fisheries, agro-based industries and others.
The initial allocation from the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development was channeled to the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry before it was distributed to all agriculture departments and agencies for implementation.
The Relief Cheque Presentation Ceremony was officiated by YAB Dato ' Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia when he visited the exhibition booths of the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry in conjunction with the Opening Ceremony of the "Jelajah Janji Ditepati" (A Promise Fulfilled Tour) programme at the Rural Transformation Centre, Tunjong, Kota Bharu, recently. For KADA areas, 150 poor farmers have been selected to participate in the Azam Tani project in 2013 involving the allocation of RM 1.5 million.
