Rice is the main commodity under KADA. At the end of RMK9, KADA targets to raise the production of rice to 383,070 tons at a rate of 6.5 tons/hectare which will go towards ensuring national self-sufficiency at 90%. To reach this goal, the following strategies were developed:

1. Boosting production through the concept of:

  LADANG MERDEKA means commercial rice planting using the latest technology and controlled by a central management
  MINI ESTET PADI or BATCH CULTIVATION focuses on the combined strength of all farmers under the supervision of KADA.
  10 TON PROJECT calls for  intensive support and assistance to a group of farmers, with the goal of reaching production at 10 tons/hectare, to be exemplified by other farmers



Production of vegetables within KADA will be increases to fulfill strong market demand. Focus will be given to efforts at developing high value and high potential vegetables like chilies, tomatoes, cabbage, bitter melon, okra, brassica, beans, cucumber, herbs and inductrial produce like sweet potato, cassava and roselle. For this purpose, hybrids and biotechnology has to be developed to increase productivity.

1. To reach this goal the following strategies were formulated:

  Develop more permanent commercial vegetable farms
  Increase productivity and reduce cost by stressing on the use of technology, good farming practices, consultative advice, and post-harvest operations.
  Create a sturdy and stabile marketing network
  Encourage the participation of the private sector
  Cooperate with institutions and government agencies
